my muskox hunt
Saturday the 9th I went muskox hunting with my dad, and another hunter. i woke up about 10:15am my dad told me to get ready to go hunting, so i went to the kitchen and poured my self a cup of coffee and got a couple of bagels. after a small breakfast i got my winter gear and went back out in the living room and put my stuff on. i went outside and gassed up the snow-machines warmed them up,went to the store and got 3 bottles of water. when i got back my dad and don were ready to get going so i put the water bottles in my back pack and told them i was ready. on our way out down south i stopped to fix my back rest, my dad and the hunter were kinda ways away as soon as i fixed my back rest i gunned the throttle and in a few seconds i was right behind the bull hunter . when we got to macaqmiut bunguks we seen a big herd of muskoxs. each time the bull hunter try to get closer all of the muskox's ran away. he was taking to long to try and catch his muskox so i started my snow-machine and scared them towards him. Senseless feelings
I hear a snow-machine pass by
following wind
a cold chill follows me
like a four-wheeler passing by

trip to bethel

Narrative Essay
Last Monday afternoon my mom said I was going to Bethel for tests and also visits my sister and nephew in the hospital. That afternoon I went to the airport, got on the plane, and when we were taking off I turned my Ipod on and started listening to my Music. When we reached Nightmute I turned down my music and looked out the loading door to see if I was able to see anyone I knew. About 10-15 minutes later we took off again but this time we were going to Newtok because they don’t have runway lights and the pilot said, “We have to get there before sundown.”
I sat in the seat and looked out the window while the pilot unloaded the mail and boxes after he told the passengers to get on. On our way to Tununak I turned up my music. When we landed I turned my Ipod off and went out to take a break from sitting down. Later the pilot said "Okay we are going to Toksook Bay then to Bethel.”
I said to him “Finally," so I got in my seat put on the seat belt and turn on my music. The flight to Toksook was about a 10 minute flight. When we landed I stayed in my seat and waited till it was time to go to Bethel and about ten minutes later we took off. I pulled out my Ipod and timed the flight to Bethel about twenty minutes out of Bethel I fell asleep for about 10 minutes. When I woke up I looked at my Ipod timer and it was 35 minute flight but I didn’t stop it then. As soon as we got to the terminal I stopped it. The flight from Toksook to Bethel was 48 minutes. My flight from Mekoryuk to Bethel was about 4 hours total because routing to different villages. I hate these flights.

sucki rule

January 28, 2008
To whom this may concern,
I want to talk to you about school rules.
First, I wanted to tell you why the electronic rules suck. I think that the high schoolers should be able to listen to music on our ipods, mp3s in school. What’s the point not letting us use them? No electronics in school you say, why? Look around you, there are electronics everywhere. We will still take them to school even though we’re not supposed to because music is important to us teenagers. Maybe music isn’t important to you old farts but it is to me.
Some students get distracted while working; take me for an example I get distracted easily. But, when I listen to music I focus better on what I'm working on. When I'm being spoken to I either pause it or turn it off for a while. I'm sure there’s a lot more students like me that focus better while listening to music and working. It keeps out the noise that could distract you.
Second, Why can’t we change our own rules in our school? We are like prisoners to the district and we can’t do anything besides the things they tell us to. We are a part of the school. We are the people that keep the school running, with out us students the school(s) would be shut down. Why do the villages get punished for the district student’s problems like stuff getting stolen? People around here don’t steal ipods cause every body basicly has their own.
If you have any power please consider changing this rule. Thanks for taking your time to read this.
Your frustrated student,
Jonathan David

My Father
Jonathan David My Father
I’m going to write about my dad Abraham David he’s from mekoryuk Alaska, He has quite of few jobs, being a Father, grandfather, Pilot for yute air, guide for Musk-ox hunters, captain of the 28 foot North Star which is owned by the Nima Corporation, And also subsistence hunter. When I was younger people used to say that I should have been named Junior cause I looked just like my dad, when I was little he sometimes cooked reindeer soup I don’t really remember how it tastes but I ate it, he’s kind of quiet, laughs a lot and looks like a nice man.
He’s a good father he try’s to teach me things that I might need for the future to get a job, even though how much I don’t like school he still doesn’t allow me to drop out, same as My mother, he teaches me how to work on snowmachine engines, four wheeler engines, a little about trucks, a bit on outboard motors. He also takes me hunting as much as he can.
