my muskox hunt
Saturday the 9th I went muskox hunting with my dad, and another hunter. i woke up about 10:15am my dad told me to get ready to go hunting, so i went to the kitchen and poured my self a cup of coffee and got a couple of bagels. after a small breakfast i got my winter gear and went back out in the living room and put my stuff on. i went outside and gassed up the snow-machines warmed them up,went to the store and got 3 bottles of water. when i got back my dad and don were ready to get going so i put the water bottles in my back pack and told them i was ready. on our way out down south i stopped to fix my back rest, my dad and the hunter were kinda ways away as soon as i fixed my back rest i gunned the throttle and in a few seconds i was right behind the bull hunter . when we got to macaqmiut bunguks we seen a big herd of muskoxs. each time the bull hunter try to get closer all of the muskox's ran away. he was taking to long to try and catch his muskox so i started my snow-machine and scared them towards him. About an hour my dad told me to go catch up to the

Narrative Essay
Last Monday afternoon my mom said I was going to Bethel for tests and also visits my sister and nephew in the hospital. That afternoon I went to the airport, got on the plane, and when we were taking off I turned my Ipod on and started listening to my Music. When we reached Nightmute I turned down my music and looked out the loading door to see if I was able to see anyone I knew. About 10-15 minutes later we took off again but this time we were going to Newtok because they don’t have runway lights and the pilot said, “We have to get there before sundown.”
I sat in the seat and looked out the window while the pilot unloaded the mail and boxes after he told the passengers to get on. On our way to Tununak I turned up my music. When we landed I turned my Ipod off and went out to take a break from sitting down. Later the pilot said "Okay we are going to Toksook Bay then to Bethel.”
I said to him “Finally," so I got in my seat put on the seat belt and turn on my music. The flight to Toksook was about a 10 minute flight. When we landed I stayed in my seat and waited till it was time to go to Bethel and about ten minutes later we took off. I pulled out my Ipod and timed the flight to Bethel about twenty minutes out of Bethel I fell asleep for about 10 minutes. When I woke up I looked at my Ipod timer and it was 35 minute flight but I didn’t stop it then. As soon as we got to the terminal I stopped it. The flight from Toksook to Bethel was 48 minutes. My flight from Mekoryuk to Bethel was about 4 hours total because routing to different villages. I hate these flights.

sucki rule

January 28, 2008
To whom this may concern,
I want to talk to you about school rules.
First, I wanted to tell you why the electronic rules suck. I think that the high schoolers should be able to listen to music on our ipods, mp3s in school. What’s the point not letting us use them? No electronics in school you say, why? Look around you, there are electronics everywhere. We will still take them to school even though we’re not supposed to because music is important to us teenagers. Maybe music isn’t important to you old farts but it is to me.
Some students get distracted while working; take me for an example I get distracted easily. But, when I listen to music I focus better on what I'm working on. When I'm being spoken to I either pause it or turn it off for a while. I'm sure there’s a lot more students like me that focus better while listening to music and working. It keeps out the noise that could distract you.
Second, Why can’t we change our own rules in our school? We are like prisoners to the district and we can’t do anything besides the things they tell us to. We are a part of the school. We are the people that keep the school running, with out us students the school(s) would be shut down. Why do the villages get punished for the district student’s problems like stuff getting stolen? People around here don’t steal ipods cause every body basicly has their own.
If you have any power please consider changing this rule. Thanks for taking your time to read this.
Your frustrated student,
Jonathan David

My Father
Jonathan David My Father
I’m going to write about my dad Abraham David he’s from mekoryuk Alaska, He has quite of few jobs, being a Father, grandfather, Pilot for yute air, guide for Musk-ox hunters, captain of the 28 foot North Star which is owned by the Nima Corporation, And also subsistence hunter. When I was younger people used to say that I should have been named Junior cause I looked just like my dad, when I was little he sometimes cooked reindeer soup I don’t really remember how it tastes but I ate it, he’s kind of quiet, laughs a lot and looks like a nice man.
He’s a good father he try’s to teach me things that I might need for the future to get a job, even though how much I don’t like school he still doesn’t allow me to drop out, same as My mother, he teaches me how to work on snowmachine engines, four wheeler engines, a little about trucks, a bit on outboard motors. He also takes me hunting as much as he can.

today,yesterday

Today I was working on my 2-3 month old Polaris wheeler. I changed the oil and now I’m waiting on the oil filter wrench for it. I was reading the owners manual for it and looked up how to change oil. Its kind of the same as Honda but different in a way. It has a 6mm allen wrench bolt for draining the oil and its different then a Honda's.
Yesterday I helped my friend Jason Hunt work on his Polaris Indy 340 snow machine undercarriage. After putting on some parts, he and Monica Wesley were working on putting it back into place. On the day he asked me to help him, the first thing I did was tipped over the 340, loosened his springs, slid it in place then put in the bolts.

Dear northern territory chamber of congress Park master
My name is Jonathan David I'm from Mekoryuk Alaska, and I’m interested in going to your continent “Australia “ I don’t know much about Australia and I was wondering if you could send me information.
I’m going to ask you some questions. Ayer’s rock is that huge freaking rock you have. Is it easy to get to? Once I get to Australia can I drive there? Are there aborigines still living there? If so can I meet one? My last question is is there any thing I need to know about anything could kill me out in your desert?
Thanks for your time and reading this and hope you send some information soon

different atvs
There are all different kinds of all terrain vehicles (ATVs). They are
also known as four wheelers to the villagers. Well my assignment is to compair them for you.I've been researching all kinds of ATV's and I've noticed differences in shape, size, weight, cubic centimeters (cc's) and horse power.
First, all engines are built in cc's not horse power.

kayak surfing
Two days ago I was kayak surfing, what is kayak surfing? kayak surfing is when people go surfing with kayak. Same as body surfing using the force of the wave to push the kayak. The way I learned how to surf is with a canoe at Nash Harbor. Then later this summer I started using the"cobra strike" a surfing kayak. Owned by K.U.C. or kuskokwim campus then later on they put the kayaks away for winter. So I started using mine its a "loon111"camping kayak but good in the waves to. Its same as shown on tv but for real you wait for a good size wave and surf it in and keep the kayak from turning and tiping over. The way you keep the kayak from tiping and turning paddle with the wave. Use the paddle like a rudder like the old time movies where they go down rapids and they have rudders in the back of the river boat or canoe.you use the paddle like that.

packing
Packing
Three days ago I was packing musk ox meat near Cuggauk the next bay west of the village. The hunter told my dad that the meat was on the other side. The hunter didn’t tell us exactly where the meat was. And, we had to hike over the mountain and across the creek, up the valley and through the meadow. When we got done hiking to the meat and while they were taking off the legs the hunter gave me a M.R.E. As soon as I got it I looked at what kind it was and asked if any body wants to trade? Right away and he asked “Why do you want to trade?”
I said, “We have sloppy Joe at school and I don’t really like the sloppy Joe.”
And he said “Eat it any ways its better than the schools sloppy Joe.”
Later when I got hungry and put the water in the heater and waited for six minutes and started eating.
Then after he asked “How was it?”
I said “it was better then the schools sloppy Joe.”
About an hour later we started putting the meat and the hide in our hiking packs.

BLACK BERRY CONTINUED
When I got to the place Felix said, “Hi Jonny, welcome home. Make you’re self at home and don’t ask to dig around.”
Later on that day I asked them if they needed help they said, “No.”
I told them I was going to check around each time before I went out. I would ask them if they needed help only thing I had to do for them was chop wood for maqi, also called steam house and help bring stuff to places and I had the rest of the day to my self each time I went home they would ask if fiddle was don most of the time the fiddle would get done 2:30a.m. Then I would check around and walk around with girls and walk them home. When I get home
They asked how the fiddle was and if I danced with girls. They also asked how come or why not. The last day I went to my friends house and I was really sleepy. I put on my head phones and fell asleep by her for two hours after. When I got cold I woke up and looked at the time. It was 4 a.m. and started walking home. When I got home Eliza asked, ”why are you late”? I told her the truth, that I fell asleep at my friend’s house. She asked if I was drunk, I said no because I wasn't.

Blackberry Festival
Remember that day I told you about me going to Blackberry Festival? Well I was walking down from the airport with my friend Lindsey Shavings; he was going school there for a while. Well anyways, Lindsey and I got half way down to the village of Toksook Bay and my cousin Leo saw me and picked us up on our way. Leo asked me where I was staying.
I said, “Felix Lincoln’s house.”
We got close to the place I was staying at so I said, “I could walk from right here.” I started walking to the place I was staying at.

summer work

My name is Jonathan Craig David. I am 16 years old. This summer I was working on a boat called North Star. The boat, if your wondering, is called North Star because long before I was born it brought goods to a village called Mekoryuk and Nash Harbor. Mekoryuk is on Nunivak Island which is in south western Alaska. The people on the island are Cup'ig
Alaskan Natives.
I was deck hand on the boat and I love going out on boats. I started working with Nima Corporation. Nima owns the North Star. Even though I was a deck hand I was still hauling stuff to shore at Nash Harbor. What is at Nash during the summer? Well, there's a summer camp called K.U.C. Its a summer science camp that gets college credits for U.A.F. This summer was better than any summers that I have been living.
